Shooting Stars 2012 Weekly Skills Sessions
Location: TKR – 17299 Kennedy Road, Stouffville (just south of Davis Drive)
Group: Intermediate to Rep Level, Ages 8-12 – groups will be subdivided based on skill level
Dates: January 10-March 27, 2012 (Tuesdays) : 12 sessions
Cost: $300.00 + HST = $345.00
Head Instructors: Tara McKay and Richard Kearns
Focus:
- Skating agility and speed with the puck
- Stick handling and puck control, coordinating skating and stick handling to develop speed, agility and puck protection techniques with speed and changes of speed
- Stick handling techniques: soft hands, puck control, deking, deceptive moves, pivoting/turning with puck, shooting/passing position of puck
- Shooting techniques: control, power, wrist shot, snap shot, backhand shot, slap shot, body positioning, scoring, Tipping, rebounds
- Passing techniques: control, accuracy, coordinating skating skills with passing positions, timing, soft hands
- Body position: angling, puck protection, checking
Notes:
- Maximum 20 players
- In addition to Tara and Richard, additional instructors will be present. Players will be challenged according to their skill level and pushed to improve and reach the next level in their development
- The skills program will ensure sufficient attention, correction and repetition.
- Goalie attendance is free. No goalie instruction will be provided; however, goalies will receive several shots and practice in all areas.

Dates: January 12-March 29, 2012 (Thursdays – 7Am-8 Am) : 12 sessions
Cost: $240.00 & tax
